Starting the day atop the leader board, Northje sat at the helm for most of the time and had a one shot advantage until the last hole, where he dropped his shot and slipped into a shared lead with Strydom.

Both are on 14 under 202 over three rounds and they take a four-shot lead over Oliver Bekker and Alex Haindl.

Strydom started three shots off Nortje and in third place but rallied for a five under 67 to assume the lead on the day Rohwer's tee shot swing rolled into the cup after bouncing off the green on the par three number three hole.

Madalitso Muthiya finished level in his third-round game having started brightly with three birdies to the number six hole before a double bogey on the seventh and went on further for bogey, another bogey on the 14 and 15th holes but closed with a birdie on the last hole.

The Zambian is 27th overall on the standings on three under 213.

Another Zambian still in the competition is amateur Gabriel Chibale, who appeared composed after making it to the final stage of the tournament and shot one over 73 for an overall five over 221.

"I am very happy and I would first like to thank Mopani because they promised us that any amateur who makes a cut will be taken to custom fit [golf equipment] and that really motivated me," an excited Chibale, who plays for Ndola Golf Club, said.
